CAUTI Prevention

Funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as part of the AHRQ Safety Program for Reducing CAUTI in Hospitals.

Because foley catheter placement is a common procedure in the emergency department, the emergency nurse plays a significant role in the reduction of catheter-associated urinary tract infections. In partnership with AHRQ, the Emergency Nurses Association developed this course to help emergency nurses analyze the appropriate use of catheters and give them tools to remove obstacles involved in effecting change.

This one-hour online course includes:

  • Traditional practice – Compare your current practice with our large sample of emergency nurses
  • Recommendations for change – Address misconceptions and learn eight steps for removing obstacles
  • Case study – Apply the principles you’ve learned
  • HICPAC Guidelines
  • Evidence-based research
